About Me

Hi, I'm Abi Goulbourne, my students call me Miss G. I'm currently working full time at a local high school teaching CTE Health Science - Pre-Nursing Program since November 2020. I have been in the field of nursing since 1999 as an RN.  I've worked in many areas of nursing from being a bedside / floor nurse to administrative roles.

  • ER, Med-Surgical, cardiac, orthopedics, neurology, and organ transplant patients units

  • Long Term Acute Care Hospitals, Nursing Home, Rehab Hospital with Traumatic Brain Injury

  • Unit manager, house supervisor, on call triage nurse and case manager

  • Working in correctional facilities, home care, hospice, peritoneal dialysis, and as an agency nurse

All these positions has helped me to developed strong assessment and communication skills that allows me to advocate for my clients easily. Therefore building rapports and trusting relations with my clients.

In 2020 I took on my first nursing travel assignment during COVID in Florida and Texas working 12 hour shifts 6-7 days a week. However it's rewarding knowing that you are helping to nurture patient back to health during the pandemic with high staffing shortages. I continue to dabble in many of the vast areas in nursing. I teach the BLS CPR course that is accredited by the American Heart Association. I am also STNA test evaluator for the state of Ohio, hired as an independent contractor for D&S Headmaster (however I can't test my own CNA trainees (it's a conflict in intrest).

On a personal note, I have 3 adult kids. I'm a GiGi (G-ma) to two.  I'm always thinking of ways to become financial secure with the skills I am blessed with. I love to cook, color (crafts), listen to music, watch crime TV, go to concerts/ plays/ movies, traveling  and spending time with my family. I would love to obtain another travel assignment in the future that would allow me to work and play.

My ultimate goal is to ensure that all my trainees become successful healthcare workers by keeping them engaged, focused and driven to meet their career goals.
